Rafael Nadal says he was ‘thrilled’ to be able to enjoy his new baby girl, his and his family’s first, in his homeland.

Nadal, 34, said he felt’very good’ when the baby was born at 6.25am local time on Friday morning in Spain.

‘I feel absolutely great. It was very, very nice to come home to my wife and son, my baby girl,’ he wrote in a Twitter post.

‘My family is here and everything is fine.’

Nadal said he is still on holiday with his family in Ibiza where they have been enjoying the sunshine since returning to Argentina from Barcelona.

The four-time Wimbledon champion, whose wife is also pregnant, added: ‘We are very, very well. I feel great. Thank you and enjoy your holidays.’

Nadal has been enjoying some good family time.

He recently shared a video of him with his youngest son Arthur playing on a beach.

‘On the beach, Arthur! Arthur! Arthur!’, he laughed. ‘You saw how happy I was.’

Nadal and partner Simona Halep, who gave birth to their daughter Olympia in July, have been on a holiday in the region of Ibiza with the couple’s youngest son Arthur.
