The play, written by Frank Capra, was originally broadcast on the CBS radio series ‘The Big Broadcast Music Festival’ on February 7, 1947. The final film on which this iconic American comedy was ultimately based was made by director Stanley Kramer and starred James Stewart and Katharine Hepburn, with Jack Lemmon playing George’s uncle Joe, and Edie Adams portraying his pregnant sister. After making the radio broadcast and the film, the play earned its place as an iconic American comedy.

The Broadway production is in previews, and is scheduled to officially open Feb. 19, with previews running Feb. 15 to Feb. 22. It opens on March 1.
